Cupcake making

I am so fed up of this bad weather we are having and being cooped up inside all day! It's beginning to get on my nerves. There are some plus sides though! I have been able to do more crafting than normal and also I have managed to update this blog which I havent done for ages!!!

Anyway today (as the weather is shit again! bloody wind this time!) I decided to decorate some cupcakes! I have a few books with ones in that I have been meaning to try for ages but the occasion didnt present itself! until today!

here they are!

A little ducky in a pond!  (this I would like to be a bit neater but not bad for a first attmept!)

Just learnt how to ruffle icing!!! Have to say I want to do this again!!!!!

this one may seem a bit strange but as part of my experimenting I melted a starburst and tried to make it look like a slice of cheese! I was just seeing what you could do with the sweets really and now realise they can be molded in to all sorts of shapes!! cant wait to try some more! (watch this space)

Now this final one is even weirder!! In one of my books it had cake that looked like chips (yes savoury chips!!) so I thought I would have a go! it said to leave them under the grill for 30 seconds and that is what they meant as I left them for 60 seconds and they were burnt!! but they still look pretty much like chips though dont they!!! and the cupcake looks like a pot of ketchup!!! I was pleased with the result!

hee hee love it!! wonder what else I could make!! They did taste nice but it was a bit weird!!

Anyway I had 12 cupcakes so I had to eat the rest as I ran out of time to decorate any more! lol x

A right royal tea party

For the queen's diamond jubilee I decided to have a tea party. It was a lot of fun (if a little tiring preparing for it!!) and I think all the guests enjoyed themselves too.

I attempted to make a union jack cake but it didnt turn out that great! (see what you think!).
I got to use my handbag teapot and my gardners tea set which havent had much use since I bought them!!

(for some reason this photo sneaked in at the end and I cant work out how to delete it!! GRR!)

Thanks Liz, we had a great time!

Footprints

This craft isnt for the OCD amongst us!! We did it in the kitchen as I knew I could clean the floor in there much more easily than anywhere else!! If the weather had been better we would have done it outside!!!

I lay out a roll of paper on the floor and Joshua stood in a plate of black glitter paint and walked the length of it!! I only let him use one foot as I thought this would be less messy generally!

The result looked awesome (and Joshua had a lot of fun!). I think I might frame them!

We also covered a plate in buttons too as someone is very keen on sticking!!!!!!

I will defo do the footprints again sometime it was wicked!!

Every child is an artist

One of my favourite quotes for children is 'Every child is an artist' by Pablo Picasso. This couldnt be more true when you watch how deep in thought children are when they are creating a picture. Joshua's scribbles to him have meaning but to us look like scribbles! He is lost in the picture when creating it which is inspiring. When I watch him it make me sometimes wish I could lose myself that way more often too!!

Anyway I decided to create a canvas that was painted by Joshua but that contained the quote. I started with a pound shop canvas and stuck foam letters on it.

Then I let Joshua loose on it with as much paint, and whatever colours he wanted (in hindsight I should have chosen them as his favourite colour is purple and the canvas ended up a bit dark)

And after it was dry I pulled off the letters to reveal clean canvas underneath. I think it looks quite good (although it could be a bit brighter!!)

An afternoon well spent!

Perfume making party

A couple of weeks ago I held a perfume making party with some of the mummies I have met recently. The idea behind it was to have a night out (in) but with an activity to stop us from talking about kids all night!!!!
